General in retirement turned a large scam

More than 700 Italians became victims of swindlers who proposed the registration of citizenship and other documents of a non -existent country – the theocratic Antarctic state of St. George.

They gave a total of € 400,000 to criminals, the Italian publication Fresno24 reported. The victims paid from $ 200 to $ 1000 for obtaining citizenship – but after they made sure that the state exists only on paper. The scam was opened by the police of the province of Katanzaro. The police also learned that scammers at least twice tried to “sell” land in Antarctica with the adjacent noble title. They also received money for the “purchase” of the Greek island of Kuneli. Scammers created all institutions, an official newspaper, online site and identity certificates suitable for travel abroad.
