Gensen NATO for first time can choose a woman

Woman for the first time in the history of NATO to become the Secretary General of the Alliance, replaced in October 2022 on this post of Norwegian Jens Stoltenberg. The Spanish newspaper EL PAIS with reference to diplomatic sources reports that the new Secretary General will be elected at the NATO summit, which is expected to take place in the spring of next year in Madrid.

As the publication specifies, there is a broad consensus inside the organization so that Stoleberg, who takes the post of the NATO Secretary General from October 1, 2014, replaced the woman. Negotiations on the search for the future NATO Secretary General will begin in the fall, but the names of the alleged applicants are already sounding in different countries – members of the Alliance.

According to the version of the publication, among possible candidates for the post of the Alliance Secretary General – Ex-Prime Minister of the UK Teresa May, the former head of EU diplomacy Federica Mogreini, German Defense Minister Annegeret Kramp Carrenbauer. Probable applicants are also ex-president of Lithuania Dalya Grybauskaite, President of Estonia Cheresti Caludeid and Ex-President of Croatia Kolind Grabar-Kitarovich.
