Georgia tightens visa regime

In Georgia, a mandatory visa regime for foreigners who come to the country for a long time will be established. The bill was developed against the backdrop of the influx of migrants from Russia and Belarus after the start of a special operation in Ukraine.

According to the Georgian News portal, the government intends to amend the law “On the legal status of foreigners and stateless persons.” We are talking about foreigners who can be in a country without a visa of 90 or 180 days.

It is noted that foreigners often “abuse” this opportunity and enter Georgia with a short -term visit, and not for immigration, but then apply for an immigration visa.

Earlier, the chairman of the ruling party “Georgian Dream” Irakli Kobahidze assured that the Georgian authorities are not going to revise a visa -free policy against Russia.
