Germany’s police arrested 30 paintings by the Russian oligarch Alisher Usmanov, who were part of the Dilbar yacht interior, Süddeutsche Zeitung reports.
The total cost of paintings is estimated at at least 5 million euros, among the seized paintings there are canvases of famous artists, for example, Mark Shagal.
The decision to arrest paintings was made in accordance with the law on the application of sanctions: Usmanov had to notify Germany’s authorities about all his assets in the country, this also concerned the paintings, but he did not do it.
69 -year -old Usmanov is one of the richest people in Russia. According to the latest estimates by Forbes magazine from 2022, its condition is estimated at 14.6 billion euros. In February, after the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, he fell into international sanctions lists, including in the European Union.
