Greece: forest fires are raging for sixth day

Large -scale forest fires in Greece, in particular in the vicinity of the cities of Dedeagach (Alexander Polyis) and Merich, has been going on for the sixth day.

Forest fires in Greece broke out on August 19. A fire on the mountain of a greenhouse 50 km north of Athens approached the village.

Fire continues to spread due to strong wind.

The authorities called on the inhabitants of the village of Trakomacedones near the Parinite mountain to prepare for possible evacuation.

Many roads are closed for transport.

Since August 19, dozens of settlements have been evacuated in Greece due to fires, and significant damage to the infrastructure was caused.

Over 600 thousand hectares of forest and agricultural lands, in general, burned.
