Guardian: Russians burned bodies of their soldiers in Cherson

During the occupation of Kherson, the Russian military threw the bodies of their dead colleagues to the local landfill and burned them there, writes The Guardian with reference to local residents and workers.

According to the interlocutors of the publication, in the summer the Russian military made a landfill for the forbidden zone and closed it from prying eyes. Residents said that they saw how Russian open trucks with black bags drove there, which were thrown out and then set on fire, which is why the air was filled with thick caustic smoke and the smell of burning flesh.

The authors of the article write that an independent verification of the statements of local residents is impossible, and the Ukrainian authorities said that they cannot say whether an investigation is being conducted on these statements. The journalists of The Guardian visited the training ground located on the northwestern outskirts of the city, five days after the liberation of Kherson and talked with the landfill, as well as with several residents of the city, who confirmed the statements made by other Kherson in the summer.
