Head of Council of Council of Armenia: A peace treaty with Azerbaijan will be signed before end of year

Armenia and Azerbaijan intend to sign a peace treaty before the end of the year, said Armenia Grigoryan, Secretary of the Council of People’s Commissars of Armenia, said in an interview with public television of Armenia.

According to him, the United States showed active involvement. The first meeting was held at the level of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Armenia, it was organized by Secretary of State Anthony Biginen in New York. After that, the adviser to the US President for National Security Jake Sullivan organized the meeting of Armen Grigoryan and Assistant President Azerbaijan Hikmet Gadzhiev.

“We mainly discussed a number of issues regarding Armenia and Azerbaijan,” said Grigoryan.

The parties also discussed the terms of reaching a peace treaty. “That is, in order to sign a peace treaty by the end of the year. As well as the issue of delimitation,” added Grigoryan.

According to him, there is an agreement on the end of the Delimitation process by the end of the year. The peace treaty and delimitation are interconnected.

“We can say that the delimitation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan is completed. It remains for us to come to a mutual agreement that we are accepting the work done as a basis, as a border between countries,” said Grigoryan.
