Head of European Commission called not to return to “dirty” fuel

The head of the European Commission Ursula von der Layen believes that European countries should use the energy crisis caused by anti -Russian sanctions, as an occasion to “move forward” in the development of renewable energy, Kommersant reports.

According to her, countries need to be actively invested in this industry and not “roll around” before using “dirty” fuel. “We must make sure that we use this crisis for moving forward, and not a rollback back to dirty fossil fuel … This is a thin feature, and it is still unclear whether we will turn in the right direction,” she said to Financial Times.

She believes that now the EU needs to focus on “mass investments in renewable energy sources”.
