Head of IEA: COP29 can be turning point in transition to “pure” energy in Azerbaijan

COP29 can be a turning point in the transition to the “pure” energy in Azerbaijan and beyond. This was said by an interview with Trend Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA) Fatih Birol.

“For many years, there have been good, mutually beneficial relations between Azerbaijan and Europe. Azerbaijan has already proved that it is a reliable energy partner of Europe, supplying energy over the southern gas corridor. The country also has huge potential both in the field of wind and solar energy The government takes steps in this direction and has good plans for the maximum use of the potential of renewable energy.

Birol believes that if these plans are implemented, Azerbaijan can become a good partner of Europe and in the field of “pure” energy.

“There are many striking examples in this regard, including the project of laying a cable along the bottom of the Black Sea. In addition to the existing energy partnership based on natural gas, renewable energy can become an important component that Europe needs and the whole world and the whole world and the whole world. Azerbaijan in this area has a very good potential. .

According to him, Azerbaijan has already taken certain steps in the field of “pure” energy, but this is only a few percentage points from all the potential that the country has.

“Therefore, I really hope that this potential will be completely, if not completely, then to a large extent used, first of all, in the domestic market of Azerbaijan,” said the Executive Director of the MAI.
