Head of lag considers high probability of return of Damascus to organization

The Secretary General of the League of the Arab states (LAG) Ahmed Abu Gait called the high probability of Syria’s return to the ranks of the regional organization.

Bashar al-Assad regime will probably return to the lag to the 32nd Summit of the organization, which is expected to be held in Saudi Arabia on May 19, the gait on the air of the Saudi television channel “ASh-Shark”.

He believes that the mechanism of the return of Assad’s regime to the lag must be activated gradually. “Lag-participating countries must agree among themselves, and then send an invitation to Damascus. Syria representatives will come and take part in ministerial meetings, and then return to work in the framework of the LAG,” he said.

Set noted that his observations and contacts suggest that the return of Assad regime to the lag is very likely. “The situation can only change if something extraordinary happens, which will eventually brake the process of returning Damascus,” said the head of the lag.

32nd Lag summit is scheduled for May 19 in Saudi Arabia.
