Headquarters of NATO celebrated 75th anniversary of Alliance

In the headquarters of NATO in Brussels, a ceremony was held on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the North Atlantic Alliance.

“Today we celebrate the 75th anniversary of the organization of the North Atlantic Treaty (NATO), the most powerful, strongest and most successful alliance in history. Congratulations,” said the General Secretary of the Alliance Jens Stoltenberg, speaking after the performance of the NATO anthem.

Secretary General noted that when the Cold War ended, NATO helped to put an end to ethnic conflicts in the Balkans, and also first applied article 5 about collective defense after the attacks of September 11, 2001.

“Since then, NATO has been on the front edge of the fight against terrorism. Today, NATO is much larger, more powerful and cohesive than ever before. At first we had 12 members. Today is already 32. Therefore, we must do that we must do that – That’s right, ” – the general secretary of NATO.
