Human rights defenders said condition for return of Syrian refugees

The return to the homeland of millions of refugees depends on the successful implementation of democratic political transformations in this country. This is stated in the report of the human rights organization “Syrian Human Rights” (SNHR), published on the occasion of World Refugees June 20.

“Syria is not a safe country, the return of millions of refugees depends on the implementation of a democratic political transition,” the document says.

According to the statement, the long -term civil war, violations by the leadership of Syria and other parties to the conflict led to the fact that half of the country’s population became either internally displaced persons (IDPs) or refugees in other countries of the world.

SNHR believe that the ongoing violations of human rights by the Syrian authorities nullify the prospects for the return of refugees to their homeland.

The report emphasizes that the restoration of Syria membership in the League of Arab states after 12 years does not mean that the country has created safe conditions for the return of refugees.
