The collapse of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric station in the Kherson region of Ukraine has become one of the most serious damage to critical infrastructures in February 2022, when the war between Ukraine and the Russian Federation began. “Thousands of people on both sides of the Dnieper suffered from floods, and their lives are in danger. Many of them will be left without shelter and will acutely need humanitarian aid,” follows the message.

ICRCs collaborates with local authorities and partners in Ukraine in order to assist the victims as a result of the incident, the tweet said.

The committee reminded that dams have special protection in accordance with international humanitarian law.
