Immunity to Covid-19 in children is preserved nine months

German scientists found another confirmation that children are infected with COVID-19 less often adults. This is stated in the study of the professor of the University of Hamburg, Sorent Genting, reports TASS.

It is noted that, according to the results of large-scale monitoring of the SARS-COV-2 infection frequency in Germany, it became obvious that children are infected with less often adults.

The study began in May 2020 and focused on all cases of infection of children in Hamburg, as well as studying the history of their diseases. In addition, scientists traced the frequency of infection of children from patients with adults, transmitting the virus to other family members and the rate of decline in the level of antibodies in the body. For this, data were collected about 4.6 thousand children.

It turned out that at the beginning of the summer of 2020, only 1.9% of the research participants became carriers of the coronavirus. Also, children twice as less than other family members have become infected from households. At the same time, the concentration of antibodies in children’s organisms after the disease was almost twice as high as adults, and many of them did not weaken immunity significantly and nine months after recovery.
