The President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdymuhamedov, adopted the general secretary of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Sergey Lebedev, who arrived in the country to participate in the upcoming next meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS. This was reported by the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan.
Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan, together with the CIS Executive Committee, carried out great preparatory work to organize a high -level meeting.
The President of Turkmenistan also expressed the conviction that the upcoming meeting will provide a good opportunity to discuss the main directions and prospects for cooperation within the CIS. According to him, cooperation in the fields of the Commonwealth of Independent States is one of the priority aspects of the foreign policy strategy of neutral Turkmenistan.
It was exciting that among the main areas of joint activity – the use of existing opportunities in the areas of economics and trade, energy, transport, communications and telecommunications, strengthening relations in the scientific, educational, cultural and sports fields.
The President of Turkmenistan noted that the upcoming meeting of the Council of Heads of Government at the initiative of the country provides for the consideration of the draft decision on the announcement of Ashgabat by the city of new sports capabilities of the Commonwealth. At the same time, the Turkmen leader expressed confidence that the adoption of this document will serve the efficient strengthening of friendly ties.
In turn, the CIS Secretary General noted that Ashgabat has all the necessary infrastructure for organizing at a high level of international sports events and that the country has become the center of world -class sports competitions.
At the end of the meeting, the head of Turkmenistan and his guest exchanged the best wishes for each other, expressing confidence that the fruitful partnership in the CIS format, based on the accumulated many years of experience, will continue to develop, filling up with a new specific content
