A preliminary investigation was completed in the criminal case of Agil Babaev, who is accused of fraud and extortion.

According to haqqın.az, the materials of the criminal case were sent for consideration by the Baku court for serious crimes. The case is conducted by Judge Eldar Ismailov. The preparatory court session is scheduled for July 19.

Agil Babaev convinced his victims that he received a revelation from God and possesses supernatural abilities. He called himself Mehdi Sahibg-Zaman. Law enforcement agencies contacted 40 victims of his actions.

Babaev seemed to the 12th Imam Mehdi (according to Islam – the last successor of the Prophet Muhammad, who should appear before the end of the world). At the religious meetings organized by him, he said that he was sent to the earth with divine force in order to do good and help people, and that it is important to believe in it in order to avoid hellish torment in the future.
