In Israel, they advocate restriction of immigration to country of non -Jews

The new Minister of the Israeli Integration, Ophir Sofer, who is responsible for the issues of the repatriation of the Jews, advocated limiting the possibilities for the resettlement of immigrants to Israel, who are not Jews under Jewish laws, TASS reports.

Speaking on the air of the Kan state radio station, Sofer, representing the ultra -right block “Religious Zionism”, spoke in favor of amendments to the Israeli Law “On Return”, on the basis of which the descendants of Jews from around the world have the right to repatriation to Israel with the automatic receipt of citizenship .

The minister complained that, according to him, in 2022, among repatriates to Israel from Russia and from Ukraine, 72% were non -Jews, if Galahe, the Jewish religious code of laws.

“Over the past year, a significant part – about 40 thousand out of 55 thousand – people who committed Aliya (repatriation) are not Jews in Galach. Some of these new repatriates used the Law” On Return “. This gap must be reduced” , ”said Sofer, referring to one of the provisions of this document, which gives the right to repatriate the grandchildren of the Jews, even though the Israeli Ministry of Internal Affairs does not appropriate Jewish nationality to such immigrants in the documents.

Previously, the “Regulation on the grandchildren” of the Law on Return became the reason for acute disputes during coalition negotiations – many representatives of the ultra -right and orthodox religious forces, who eventually formed the coalition with the Likud Party Benjamin Netanyahu, demanded to abolish this part of the law To save the “Jewish character” of Israel, protecting it from the influx of repatriates who are not considered Jews in Galach.

According to Sofer, as a result, coalition partners reached an agreement that this item would somehow undergo changes.

At the same time, the minister spoke out that it was done without long legislative procedures.

“The solution must be found without an appeal to lawmaking,” he said.
