In Russia, they ask Putin to unlock Facebook

Bloggers Council under the Council of the Russian Federation sent to Russian President Vladimir Putin and deputy chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev a letter requesting an Instagram and Facebook block, Russian media reports.

.

The authors of the letters are sure that the restriction of access to social networks carries negative consequences for Russian bloggers and risks for the whole country. In their opinion, after blocking the sites “Russia lost an effective channel to form a positive image of the country, and Russian users – the ability to create content aimed at upholding the country’s interests.”

Due to the blocking of Instagram and Facebook, Russia is losing position in the information war daily, bloggers say. Also in letters they indicated the impossibility of conducting entrepreneurial activities for owners of small and medium -sized businesses and conducting charitable fees in blocked social networks. In addition, Russians use VPN services to circumvent blocking, many of which “threaten user personal data.”
