In United States, all convicts for storage of marijuana were pardoned

US President Joe Biden announced the pardon of all convicts under federal laws for marijuana storage. It is only about cases where the accusation of marijuana storage was not accompanied by others, reports Reuters.

Biden noted that prosecuted for marijuana storage could be infringed when applying for a job, when renting or buying housing or when trying to get an education. “Too many lives were turned upside down due to our wrong approach to marijuana. It was time to fix these mistakes,” the agency quotes Biden.

The pardon declared Biden will affect about 6.5 thousand people who were convicted from 1992 to 2021 on a single charges of storing marijuana.

Biden announced that it should generally revise the classification of marijuana as a drug of “class 1”. He pointed to the same class, the heroin and LSD.

The Agency notes that changing the classification of marijuana at the federal level will allow, in particular, to companies producing it for medical purposes, which is allowed in a number of states, to place their shares on the exchange and greatly simplify the receipt of bank loans for them.
