Investigative Committee of Russian Federation opened case on destruction of dam of Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station

The Investigative Committee of Russia on the destruction of the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station [in Ukraine] and the flooding of territories instituted a criminal case of a terrorist attack, the press service of the Russian department reports.

“As a result of criminal actions by the armed groups of Ukraine, the Kakhovsky hydroelectric power station was destroyed, which resulted in the flooding of the settlements of the Kherson region. On this fact, the main investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime provided for in clause” A, B ” Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (a terrorist act committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy and entailed causing significant property damage and the occurrence of other serious consequences), ”the message said.

The Investigative Committee of Russia will establish the circumstances of the incident and the amount of damage caused to the region. The actions of all involved persons will be given a legal assessment, noted in the IC of the Russian Federation.

Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station in the Kherson region of Ukraine was destroyed on the morning of June 6. The area is at risk of flooding.

The parties impose responsibility for each other for the breakthrough of the dam.
