Iranian authorities declared number of victims of protests

Iran’s authorities for the first time officially announced the total number of victims of protests held in the country, reports Associated Press with reference to the Iranian military leader.

According to one of the commanders of the Islamic Revolution Corps (Ksir), Amir Ali Hajizade, more than 300 people were killed during the protests, including security forces. He also stated that many victims are ordinary Iranians who did not take part in protests.

At the same time, the organization “Human Rights Office in Iran” (HRAI) reports that according to its information, 451 protesters and 60 employees of security services died in the riots. More than 18 thousand people were detained.
