“Israel does not consider the issue of returning the Golan Heights of Syria,” said Lapid at a press conference after negotiations with the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergey Lavrov.
Note that the Golan heights were conquered by Israel during the six-day war with Syria in 1967. In 1981, UN Security Council did not recognize Israel’s decision to proclaim the Golan part of its territory. Since 2019, the United States is the only state recognized by the sovereignty of Israel over the occupied territories of the Golan Heights.
