Istanbul: lions with broken paws made prostheses

A couple of lions sent for treatment from Iran to Turkey, after the completion of the rehabilitation period, will be able to continue their population.

In the natural complex Park of Istanbul in the Istanbul district of Chekmeky, the lion and lioness, who prostheted the legs, are undergoing rehabilitation. Employees of the complex carefully take care of two animals, which put prostheses from a rally of platinum. The female and the male are still difficult to move on her four legs due to a serious injury transferred in the past.

Park of Istanbul, the Chairman of the Board of Bourhka, Borakioglu, said that the lions that fell from a height in infancy received serious injuries in the fall. According to him, the animals were transported from Iran to Turkey for treatment. Lions were treated for about four months in a veterinary hospital at the Veterinary Department of Istanbul University of Jerrahpash. Later they were transferred to a rehabilitation center for animals to the Chekmeky district.

“They came to us very small, they were about a year old. Animals could not go due to broken paws. At first we prostheted the hind legs of the animals. After prosthetics, the level of disability of animals of 80 percent decreased to a mark below 20 percent. Now they are now They can walk. They still live in this complex. We are watching them, and we fix that from now on they will be able to continue their population, ”said Memishoglu.

According to him, the lions found prostheses entered during the breeding period. “We are looking forward to the day when we can take the lion’s arms,” ​​said Memishoglu.
