Japan placed Patriot (PAC-3) missiles near Taiwan Strait

Japan placed Patriot (PAC-3) missiles on Miyako Island near the Taiwan Strait.

This was announced by the General Secretary of the Cabinet of Ministers of Japan Matsuno Hirokazu.

Matsuno said that expanded missiles are designed to ensure national security and will be aimed at possible large -range ballistic missiles from North Korea.

According to local media, the PAC-3 missiles were also deployed on the Isigaki and Yonaguni Islands in the same region.

The islands of Miyako, Jonaguni and Ishigaki in Okinawa in the southwest of the country are known as the country closest to the Taiwan Strait.
