On the eve of the Sheki Court of Appeal sentenced journalist Elchin Hasanzade to 8 months in prison.
According to the Turan agency, the head of the city housing and exploitation department Shahriyar Mustafayev filed a private criminal charge. He demanded that Hasanov be brought under the articles “Slander” and “Insult” of the Criminal Code. The reason for the lawsuit is critical publications about the official in social networks.
The Mingachevir court earlier sentenced Hasanzade to a year of correctional labor. The journalist appealed against the verdict, but the Court of Appeal upheld the verdict, only shortening the sentence.
