Kazakhstan continues negotiations on oil transportation through Azerbaijan

Kazakhstan oil and gas company KazMUNAIGAZ (KMG) continues negotiations with the State Neftekspan of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) on the implementation of oil transportation options, the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan said.

“Within the framework of further diversification of the exports of Kazakhstani oil and the development of the Transkaspian International Transport Route, the Ministry of Energy and KMG started negotiations with the Azerbaijani side on the transportation of Kazakhstani oil through the territory of the Azerbaijan Republic,” the Ministry of Energy recalled.

According to the representative of the department, CMG currently continues to discuss with SOCAR and Kazakhstan oil -processing companies for various oil transportation options.

Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan, Bolat Akchulakov, said that through Azerbaijan the possibility of transporting only a small volume of oil is considered.

“The issue of shipping some volume of oil through the Caspian to Azerbaijan is a technical question, and the question is not about any huge volumes of shipment, but about part of the excess volumes that we may have,” the minister said.
