Kazakhstan does not plan to increase rent for Baikonur for Russia

Kazakhstan does not plan to index the rent that it receives from Russia for the use of the Baikonur cosmodrome. This was stated by the Chairman of the Committee on Information Security of the Aerospace Committee of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan (AC MCRIAP of the Republic of Kazakhstan) Ruslan Abdicalikov.

According to Abdicalikov, the rent for Russia for Baikonur will remain the same.

“Firstly, it is quite difficult to compare it with something. This is a unique precedent when one country rents out from another cosmodrome, this is not anywhere else. There is nothing to compare to say how fair the price is. Secondly , the price in the agreement is provided in dollars, so if the payments are in national currency, then the current course is equivalent to the current. This is also a kind of indexation, ”said Abdicalikov, whose words are quoted by Zakon.kz.

The representative of Mtzriap noted that the agreement was concluded in 1994, when the dollar was completely different. Now we are already talking about a different amount, and this to a certain extent compensates for the need for indexation. Therefore, Ruslan Abdicalikov concluded, Kazakhstan does not plan to review the amount of Baikonur’s lease.

Earlier it became known that the beginning of flight tests of the Baiterek space missile system at the Baikonur cosmodrome will be transferred to 2025.
