The head of the DPRK Kim Jong Yun announced a large construction in Pyongyang and demanded 10 thousand modern apartments from the builders this year. It is reported by the State Korean Central Information Agency KCNA.
Kim Jong Yun said that the project in the southeast of Pyongyang will solve the housing problem in the capital of the country.
The construction plan of 10 thousand apartments was voiced at the eighth congress of the party in January, which was published a new five-year plan of the country. A month later, Kim Jong Yun repeated the construction plan at the party plenium, despite the attempts of the construction sector to reduce the target number of new homes, referring to the lack of materials and the labor force.
The ruling party considers the construction of new homes in Pyongyang “the most important task” and allocated a “significant proportion of the state budget” to the project.
