In Iraqi Kirkuk, a group of youth protested in connection with incidents, as a result of which 4 people were killed on Saturday.

A group of demonstrators gathered in the area of Shordia, where the Kurdish population of the city compactly lives, reacted to an incident, which killed 4 people at the weekend.

The audience demanded captures and prosecution of the perpetrators, and also chanted the slogans “In Kirkuk, there should be not only the Iraq flag, but also the flag of the Kurdistan regional government” and “This is Kurdistan.

Promotion participants said that in case of failure to fulfill their requirements, they organize a more mass demonstration.

Soon after the start of the demonstration to the scene, a large number of police and representatives of security forces were sent.

After that, the demonstrators left the area without any incidents.

Earlier in Iraqi Kirkuk, a commandant hour was introduced against the backdrop of protests of a group of supporters of the Democratic Party of Kurdistan (DPP), requiring the opening of the Erbil-Kirkuk highway.

The Kirkuk police called the townspeople not to leave the house at the commandant hour.

Promotion participants demand the return of the DPK building, which was used by the party until 2017. Locals, in particular Arabs and Turkman, opposed this decision and blocked the Erbil-Kirkuk highway.

The forces of the Kurdish militia of the Peshmerge, controlled by the Kurdish regional administration of Iraq (Territory), were transferred to the bases left by the Iraqi army in Kirkuk after the appearance of the deaash terrorist organization in 2014.

In 2017, Iraqi government troops entered Kirkuk, putting an end to the presence of Peshmerge here.
