Kisida: path to world without nuclear weapons becomes even more complicated

The Memorial Park of the World in the center of Hiroshima hosted a commemorative ceremony on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the atomic bombardment of Hiroshima.

The mayor of Hiroshima Kazumi Matsui, in turn, said that world leaders should take urgent and specific steps to eliminate the nuclear threat.

“World leaders must admit that the nuclear threats, now voiced by some politicians, show how stupid the theory of nuclear deterrence is,” he emphasized.

The hit on Hiroshima was dealt on Monday, August 6, 1945, and three days later on Thursday, August 9, American aviation threw a bomb on Nagasaki.

The Little Boy (“Baby”) atomic bomb, the TNT equivalent of which was 13 thousand tons, destroyed about 70 percent of the city.

The explosion equalized everything in a radius of 1.5 km. The temperature in the epicenter reached three thousand degrees. Immediately after the tragedy, 80 thousand people died, and until the end of 1945 the number of victims reached almost 200 thousand
