Kyrgyzstan suggested introducing State of Emergency in energy system

The Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan Taalibek Ibraev suggest introducing the emergency regime in the energy sector of the republic, Kabar reports.

The head of the Ministry of Energy explained that the problem is related to low water, which is observed not only in Kyrgyzstan, but around the world due to hot weather.

“This year we had a good forecast – to accumulate water in the Toktogul reservoir up to 14 billion cubic meters. We went out by 13.7-13.8 billion cubic meters and expected more this year. The weather dictates differently. For today, there are less than 1.8 billion cubic meters compared to last year. According to surgical data for this morning, the volume of water is 10 billion 750 million cubic meters. weeks with an increase in temperature, the melting of glaciers has activated, ”Ibraev informed.

At the same time, he emphasized that in the country every year the consumption of electricity increases by 10-15 percent, and the generation remains the same.

Ibraev noted that the main essence of the introduction of emergencies is to rapidly increase the generation of electricity, and until 2026 the department has the task – to get away from the import of electricity and start its export.

Today, the energy deficit in Kyrgyzstan is about 3 billion kilowat hours. It is covered by imports from Turkmenistan (transit through Uzbekistan), from Russia (through the networks of Kazakhstan), as well as due to imports from the Republic of Kazakhstan
