Large airport was closed to Indonesia after eruption of Merapy volcano

Indonesia authorities on the eve of temporarily closed the Minangkabau International Airport in the Province of West Sumatra after the eruption of the Merapy volcano.

According to the local VOIDOTID media organization, the Indonesian Center for Volcanology and Sitting Geological Dangers (PVMBG) said that the Mespi volcano erupted for the second time this month.

There have been no reports of victims among the population or damage to the infrastructure. However, the authorities recommend local residents and tourists to stay away from the area of ​​the volcano.

In early December, 23 people were killed as a result of the eruption of the volcano of Merapy, 50 climbers were saved from the distress zone.

Merapy, located on the Indonesian island of Sumatra, is one of the most active volcanoes in the world.

Indonesia is located in the so -called Pacific Fire Ring, where the earthquakes and eruptions of volcanoes are frequent. Throughout the territory of Indonesia, there are almost 130 existing volcanoes.
