Largest producer of diamonds in world was faced with threat of default

The Russian company Alrosa, the largest producer of diamonds in the world, will not be able to pay coupons for Eurobonds with repayment in 2027 due to “circumstances independent of the company”, reports Lenta.ru with reference to a statement published on Enterprise website.

The payment of the next coupon should take place on June 25, we are talking about the Bonds issued by the subsidiary of Alrosa Finance S.A., however, the restrictions introduced by the United States and Canada in relation to Alrosa interfere with the calculations. In April, she, among other things, faced Washington’s blocking sanctions. The current situation can technically threaten the company with default.

The company emphasizes that it recognizes its obligations in full and is going to fulfill them after the regulatory restrictions are removed.
