Latvia wants to use Estonian LNG Terminal for energy security

The Ministry of Climate and Energy of Latvia will evaluate the possibility of the joint use of LNG Terminal Paldiski in order to strengthen the safety of gas gas supplies. On Thursday, April 13, the Ministry of Climate and Energy of Latvia reported.

The department noted a significant change in the context of the natural gas system of the region.

The Polish-Lithuanian gas pipeline, the Finland terminal of Inkoo began work and the pier of LNG Terminal in Paldiska is being built.

The department noted that the construction of its own terminal is economically inappropriate and unrealized without state guarantees.

“In addition to the terminals in Lithuania and Finland and to the terminal, which will be built in Estonia, it is impossible to build a commercially autonomous LNG Terminal in the region. For this reason, work will be started to jointly use the LNG Terminal Paldiski in Estonia,”- It follows from the message.
