Lebanon does not cope with crisis: authorities call diaspora to help

Lebanon, who has encountered an energy crisis, lack of water, inflation and depreciation of the currency, asks for the help of the Lebanese living abroad, Al Jazeera reports.

In particular, the government asks them to return home to rest in order to pour money into tourism. Acting Minister of Tourism Valid Nassar said: “I … I ask our family and friends to come to Lebanon. They will spend money wherever they go, but Lebanon is in greater need today.”

The Ministry of Tourism of Lebanon launched an advertising campaign to attract tourists this summer. It is expected that about a million tourists will visit the country. This will allow the country to get about 3.5 million dollars that will be solved by economic problems. About 75% of the population of Lebanon lives in poverty, relatives and friends help many from abroad.

Last summer, the Lebanese diaspora has already helped the country. Then many from abroad brought the necessary medicines, generators, money for families, friends and charitable organizations. Over the year, the situation in the country has only worsened. The government has great hopes for the summer season, since the country is acutely needed by money to solve social problems.
