The major asteroid will come close to Earth on August 21. This, as reported by Izvestia, is evidenced by the data of the Center for the study of the NASA near-earth objects (CNEOS). The center conducts observations of potentially dangerous asteroids.
It is noted that the diameter of the asteroid, which was named 2016 AJ193, is 1374 m at 403 m. It turned out to be in size larger than the highest structure on Earth – Burj Khalif’s skyscraper in Dubai. Its height is 829.8 m.
Already known that the asteroid will be used by our planet at a distance of 3.4 million km at a speed of 26.17 km / c. Next time, the asteroid approaches the Earth in February 2063.
Potentially dangerous is the object passing at a distance of less than the radius of the orbits of the moon – approximately 384 thousand km.
