Malta will pay tourists who will arrive on island

Malta’s authorities plan to offer up to € 200 each foreigner who will spend at this Mediterranean island at least 3 days.

According to Reuters, thus the authorities expect to revive the tourist sector, which is more than 27% of the Malta economy affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the Minister of Tourism Cleiton Bartolo, tourists booking accommodation in a five-star hotel will get € 200. Those who choose a four-star hotel will receive € 150, and those who boost a three-star hotel – € 100. The amount of payment will be increased by 10% if the hotel will be booked on the island of Gozo.

“The scheme is aimed at getting hotels in Malta in a very competitive position as international tourism resumes,” said Bartolo.
