Military expert: It turns out that international action for demining Karabakh was nothing more than a cover

The Armenian military in a hurry left their positions, covering the retreat with randomly laid mines. Russian military expert Alexander Artamonov told Trend.

According to the military expert, “during their stay in Nagorno-Karabakh, the Armenians have repeatedly turned to international organizations – first of all to the HALO Trust (Great Britain), as well as to SPFA (France), CASA (Switzerland) and a number of others in order to demining the territory. According to the head of the international organization under the UN USAID Karen Hilliard, in 2020 only 5% of the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh remained uncleared of mines.

“And after the war, it turns out that Karabakh is virtually impassable due to the enormous number of minefields. It turns out that the international demining action was nothing more than a screen for the actions of the Western special services from the Armenian side,” Artamonov notes. >

The expert also notes that Russian peacekeepers “discovered and neutralized more than 24 thousand explosive objects (mines, land mines and shells). Heavy sapper equipment, 136 professionals, including dog handlers, are working on the Turkish side. The Turks found and neutralized more than 16 thousand ammunition. It turns out that the land is densely sown with death, which can be regarded as a separate operation preventing the return of Azerbaijani refugees – more than 700 thousand people – to their native lands. “
