Mongolia’s income from tourism for the first time amounted to 1 billion US dollars, local media reported with reference to the data of the Ministry of Tourism.
“For the first 11 months of 2023, more than 600 thousand foreign tourists visited Mongolia. During this period, most of the tourists who visited Mongolia in January -November of this year amounted to Russian, Chinese and South Korean tourists,” follows the message.
The department noted that to extend the tourist season and increase the number of tourists from November to April, they are working on a winter recreation development project.
Today, the economy of Mongolia largely depends on the extraction of minerals and export of mineral resources. The development of the tourism sphere is considered as the most affordable solution for diversification of the economy.
The Government of Mongolia announced 2023, 2024 and 2025 “years of visiting Mongolia” in order to expand the economy and develop the tourist sector from the pandemic.
