Most powerful star in galaxy occurred on next star

Scientists recorded the most powerful out of ever observed outbreaks on the proxima of Centauri, the star nearest to the solar system. The results of the study are published in the Astrophysical Journal Letters magazine.

Astronomers observed a campus proxy in 2019 for 40 hours using nine telescopes on Earth and in space, including the Hubble Space Telescope, Alma Radio Telececopes and the TESss Space Observatory. During this star spawned a bright outbreak, which is one of the strongest among those registered in the Milky Way. In ultraviolet waves, the luminaire became brighter at 14 thousand times a few seconds.

Proxima Centauro is a red dwarf located at a distance of about four light years from the sun. Around the star rotates the planet of the proxy centaurial b of earth type, however, life on it is most likely impossible because of powerful outbreaks that are characteristic of red dwarfs.
