“Dear Andrey Alexandrovich,

We, ecologists and activists, are seriously concerned about the deterioration of the environmental situation in the territories of the Azerbaijan Republic, where the peacekeeping contingent of the Russian Federation is temporarily deployed.

During the period of 30-year occupation by Armenia, Azerbaijan against our country was committed by environmental terror in the Karabakh and East-Zangesur economic regions, many mineral deposits were illegally exploited. Despite the fact that in 2020, after the release of Azerbaijan territories from the occupation of Armenia, illegal operation and environmental situation at many loosened deposits were taken under control, unfortunately, the illegal operation of the Gyzylbulag gold deposit and the Medno-Molibdenovoye field of Demirli, located in the territory Azerbaijan Republic, where the peacekeeping contingent of the Russian Federation is temporarily deployed.

illegal operation of mineral deposits, aggravating the environmental situation, has a negative impact on the civilian population, the environment, biodiversity, underground and groundwater resources, as well as the environmental environment in other territories of Azerbaijan. ” – the appeal says.

The heads of NGOs considered it important to “evaluate the illegal operation and environmental situation at the Gyzylbulag gold deposit and the Medno-Molibden field of Demirli located in the territory of the Azerbaijani Republic, where the peacekeeping contingent of the Russian Federation is temporarily deployed. In addition to this, we ask you to ensure safety to visit these territories and create the necessary conditions for monitoring. “
