Nigeria: 37 people were killed in explosion at illegal refinery

at least 37 people died in an explosion on an illegal oil refining object in Nigeria.

According to ARISE, the explosion has thundered during the processing of raw oil at the facility in Rivers.

Among the dead is a pregnant woman.

The authorities are investigating.

In Nigeria, hundreds of illegal refineries operate. The identified oil reserves of the country amount to approximately 37 billion barrels, which corresponds to 3.1 percent of the world stocks.

Nigeria, which is among the 15 largest countries for the production of raw oil, is the 8th country with the largest reserves in the world and the 6th in terms of oil exports.
