North Korea fired hundreds of shots at borders with South Korea

North Korea released about 250 artillery shells near the sea borders with South Korea on the evening of October 18 – the day after Seoul began annual military exercises. The shelling announced on Wednesday, October 19, the United Committee of the Chiefs of Staffs of the South Korean Armed Forces.

The military republics of Korea reported that the shells did not fall into the South Korean territorial waters, as a result, being in the buffer zones, which were established in accordance with the inter -Korean agreement of 2018 aimed at reducing tension in the relations of the two countries, Deutsche Welle reports.

The DPRK representative fell in criticizing the South Korean troops for the beginning of the beginning of 17 12-day field exercises, calling the maneuvers a rehearsal of invasion. The Ministry of Defense of South Korea said that the exercises were aimed at increasing operational potential for confrontation with various types of North Korean provocations, and also clarified that American soldiers would be involved in maneuvers.
