The building in Potapovsky Lane, where the editorial office of Novaya Gazeta is located, was subjected to a chemical attack. This was reported on Twitter of the edition.
According to journalists, a persistent, pungent chemical smell is felt in the offices of the editorial office and other organizations located in the building. Special services are already working at the scene, including the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the FSB.
Novaya Gazeta employees note that the smells are very similar to those that were during the attack on the house and car of the journalist Yulia Latynina in the summer of 2017. Then the attackers sprayed Latynina’s house and car with caustic gas of unknown composition. The police found that the spilled liquid did not pose a health hazard.
In April 2017, unknown persons sent a letter to the editorial office: there was a white powder of unknown composition in the envelope. Then the analysis showed that the substance is not radioactive.
