Despite the fight against drug addiction in Azerbaijan, the number of drug addicts in the country is growing, said the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan Sabina Aliyev at an event entitled “Civil responsibility in the fight against drug addiction and domestic violence.”
According to Sabina Aliyeva, the number of drug addicts among women is increasing: “When I visit penitentiary institutions, I am very upset at the sight of women detained for crimes related to drugs,” she complained.
The Ombudsman also noted that if 33788 drug addicts stood official in 2020, then in 2022 this figure was 34602.
