PACE IN SHOCH: CIA planned murder of Julian Assange

General Rapporteur of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on the protection of informants, Netherlands Peter Omcigt commented on the publications about the possible intentions of the CIA to kill the founder of Wikileaks Julian Assange, reports RIA Novosti with reference to the PACE site.

Previously, the media wrote that American officials and the leadership of the CIA discussed the possibility of physical elimination of Assange in 2017. The journalist allegedly planned to steal from the diplomission or seize in the case of a secret flight attempt.

“If these messages are true, I’m terrified … The abduction or murder of a civilian who has published the leakage of documents would be a gross violation of the basic principles of human rights,” the statement of Ocigt.

The speaker also pointed to the Assembly resolution from 2020, which calls for a call to prohibit the extradition of Assange in the United States, and called for immediately release a journalist.

In 2010, the founder of WikiLeaks Jullian Assange accused of sexual harassment and rape, since June 2012 he hid at the Ecuador Embassy in London. In the morning of April 11, 2019, Assange was detained at the request of the United States. Extradition hearing began on May 2, 2019. Shortly after this, the US authorities announced that Assange was presented by new charges in 17 episodes of violation of the law on espionage and disclosure of secret information. In case of issuing in him threatens imprisonment for up to 175 years.
