Pashinyan: Lachinsky corridor and city of Lachin will move to Azerbaijan

Upon completion of the construction of the Alternative Lachinsky corridor, the roads located outside the territory of the former Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Region will be departed to Azerbaijan. This was stated at the online press conference, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.

on the tripartite statement of November 9, 2020, within three years with the consent of the parties, the route of the Lachinsky corridor should occur.

According to Pashinyan, the purpose of the change is to ensure a more durable and reliable road route between Armenia and Nagorno -Karabakh. Armenia is now holding working discussions with Russian partners, since the corridor should be under the full control of Russian peacekeepers.

“In our working discussions there is an understanding that the new route will be of better quality and better cross -country ability,” the prime minister said.

As for the population of the territories, in particular, the cities of Lachin, which will be under the control of Azerbaijan, Pashinyan said that Baku would provide them with housing.

Azerbaijan is building an alternative road. She is longer than the Lachinsky corridor, according to which they are now going from Armenia to the Nagoric part of Karabakh and vice versa.
