Patriarch Kirill urged Russians not to be afraid of death: “The victim washes all sins”

The Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill in his new sermon told the Russian troops so that they would not be afraid to die in the war with Ukraine.

“If someone, driven by a sense of duty, has the need to fulfill the oath, remains faithful to his calling and dies in the performance of military duty, then he undoubtedly commits an act equivalent to the victim. He sacrifices himself for others. And therefore we believe that this victim washes all the sins that a person committed, ”said the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church.

Patriarch Kirill held analogies with Jesus, who took the execution for the sins of people. “If God in His Son gives His human life for the sake of other people, for the sake of the human race, it means sacrifice is the highest manifestation of a person’s love for his neighbors,” he said.

The Primate addressed all the servicemen with the words: “Christ is risen, and all with Him is resurrected! And life is eternal, and therefore go boldly to fulfill your military duty.”
