Powerful flashes in sun caused magnetic storm

Two consistent powerful flashes in the Sun, recorded by the US National Aeronautics and Space Research (NASA), led to a geomagnetic storm.

This was announced by the Center for Forecasting Space Weather (SWPC) of the National Administration of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research of the United States (Noaa).

According to NASA, the first outbreak of class X in the sun occurred on the weekend, the second – on Monday.

SWPC noted that the explosions caused the release of two large masses from the sun and created a geomagnetic storm, the effect of which was felt on Earth.

The geomagnetic storm caused interruptions in the work of radio communications over the territory of North America, NOAA reported.

According to NASA, the sun flashes generate powerful energy waves that pose a danger to spacecraft and astronauts, as well as for radio frequencies, energy systems and navigation signals.
