Tajik President Emomali Rahmon at the 17th Summit of the Organization for Economic Cooperation (SEC), which took place on July 4 in Azerbaijan, made the initiative to create a new strategic document to expand economic interaction between member countries. This is reported by the Tajik news agency Hovar.
According to the president, the new program should supplement the current OES-2025 plan and allow you to more effectively use the potential of regional partnerships.
In his appeal, Rakhmon outlined the key priorities of Tajikistan as part of the OES – trade, transport, energy, industry and agriculture.
He noted that in 2024, the OES countries provided 33% of Tajikistan’s foreign trade turnover, which is 18% more than a year earlier.
The president urged to speed up the development of multimodal transport corridors, support the digitalization of transit documents and remove trade and logistics barriers. He emphasized that such measures will increase the efficiency and transparency of transportation, ensure the growth of trade and improve the investment climate in the region.
Touching upon energy, Emomali Rahmon announced the importance of completing the CASA-1000 project and proposed to develop an OEC energy stability strategy with an emphasis on renewable energy sources and a green economy.
The President also proposed increasing the financing of joint production and support of small and medium -sized businesses, especially in the areas of light and food industry. Among other initiatives are the development of agricultural technologies, food security and the formation of agro -industrial clusters.
Speaking about the consequences of climate change, Rakhmon pointed out the growth of floods, villages and landslides, and called for joint measures in the field of environmental protection, exchange of technologies and restoration of ecosystems.
separately, the head of state emphasized the significance of humanitarian ties – in science, education, healthcare and tourism – as the basis for sustainable development within the OES.
Touching the international agenda, Emomali Rahmon confirmed that Tajikistan has advocated a peaceful settlement of crises, including the situation in the Middle East, exclusively diplomatic means.
Concluding the performance, the Tajik leader expressed confidence that the Hankendi summit will become an important step towards the deepening of a comprehensive partnership between the OES countries.
